Search What's On Korat
This is a lovely tea shop opposite Sukhanaree School that has homemade food at a very good price. Wassana lived in London and was a chef there, so her food is very authentic and is unlike what is normally on offer in Thai cafés in Korat. The meatballs, spicy chicken pasta, pasta bake and homemade chicken pie are all tasty options.
You can also have a cup of milky builder's tea and a scone for afters. In fact the dessert section of the menu is comprehensive, with home-made scones with cream and strawberries, a selection of tarts, apple pies and even old school coconut pastries that are so often found on afternoon tea platters in the UK. All are presented on fine crockery and the place is decked out in a classic Alice in Wonderland Tea Party style.
One of the main reasons I like to eat here, is that the place is very central. It's easy to get to from all sides of town, and is pretty close to where i teach, so it is a good option for a quick lunch out of the office. If you arrive before midday, it is quiet and you can get your order in nice and quickly.
It is only a small café with about 4 small tables inside and a couple outside, so the place fills up quickly. I particularly like the outdoor furniture, because it reminds me of the metal chairs my grandmother used to have back in England. The style of the place is very nostalgic for me.
It is open for breakfast, as well as lunch, and Wassana has home made sausages, served with eggs and toast. The early opening time makes it possible to go there before work.
We would also recommend the coffee and tea.
Why go to Sweet Lover? They have breakfast, lunch, hot drinks, cold drinks, European cakes and dinners made by someone who used to be a chef in Morden in London. The flavours are western and it really does taste like home cooking. There is real love in what she does and you can keep an eye open for the daily specials - meaning you won't get bored of the menu quickly!
You can park out on the road, though it will most likely be quite busy around 8am and 4pm due to the school opposite. Toilet and wifi also available.
