Sunday Afternoon Jam Session @ Monkey Bar

The Monkey Bar holds Afternoon Jam Sessions every other Sunday for any musician who wants to turn up and get up on stage to strut their stuff with some other musicians. The nights are completely free-form so anything can happen and anyone is welcome regardless of their ability on their chosen instrument.

The format is to tell the bar staff that you'd like to be involved or even to say you'd like to do a few chosen songs and ask if anyone else there that night would like to join you, or just do them yourself or with your friends if you prefer. The aim of the night is to have fun, not to get too serious, and make some good music together.

You can take your own instruments or you can use the ones provided by the bar - drums, bass and electric and acoustic guitar. If you want to play anything else please take your own along. All amplifiers, mics, etc. are provided by the bar and are of the highest standards.

The evening is hosted on different nights by a variety of people, the host arranges the bands and will fill in on whatever instrument if needed. The bar also provides a capable drummer for any jam band that needs one. The host and resident drummer are happy to sit out of any performance who doesn't need them, it gives them more time to enjoy a refreshing cold beer.

Due to the diverse music played at The Monkey Bar every Friday and Saturday evenings the Jam evening attracts Thai's as well as ex-pats, so if you want to get up with the pro's and see how you sound alongside them, then this is the ideal opportunity.

The evenings normally start around 2:00pm and run until everyone is out of steam or the bar closes, whichever happens first.

So get your instruments out of their cases, practice those vocal warm-ups, dust off the old harmonica or whatever your instrument of choice is and get down to The Monkey Bar every other Sunday for some top quality jammin' musical fun!
