Noodles & Satay @ Teow Tae

Teow Tae is a trendy restaurant in the middle of town that opened in April 2015. It's a family friendly noodle and satay joint that has a busy lunchtime trade and is a great place for a quick, tasty and classy lunch in the centre of the Old Town on Jaggree Road where the old Big Chili restaurant used to be; for those that remember.

The name comes from the abbreviations of their 2 most popular (and specialised) dishes; kweteow (noodles) and moo satae (pork satay sticks). Rumour has it they are now making over 1000 sticks a day, which is a testament to how popular they have become.

It is a particularly good venue for a lunchtime visit, with aircon, wifi and a nice and simple menu that serves up quick, clean, tasty food. It can be busy at midday, so I try to arrive just before to avoid the rush.

After you have tried the pork leg noodles and the awesome satay sticks (served with a cucumber and vinegar side bowl for cleaning the pallet), you could go for the pad krapow, the pad thai or one of their tasty sides. I recommend the gyo tod sai moo (crispy deep fried gyo filled with pork served with a sweet chili dip).

If you like coffee, there is a coffee shop next door, which offers a place to chill out when you are full.
