Chocolate Lava Cake @ Krua 9 x 9

Krua 9 x 9 has a really impressive menu in wonderful surroundings at a very reasonable price. Situated between the Mall road and the Suranaree 2 Rd, it is in a quiet area and has a wonderfully natural feel to it (be reminded to take some bug spray if you are wearing shorts).

The main dishes are all very good, but I'm here to focus on what to order afterwards. They have a decent selection, depending on what you fancy, but the chocolate lava cake is about as decadent as you can go. It is phenomenal. As a physics graduate, I was in awe of its texture. How on Earth can a liquid chocolate pour constantly for 5 minutes upon bursting the outer casing of the lava cake? The thick gloopy chocolatiness and the mix of hot pudding and cold ice cream was a sensation that took me back to my school dinner puddings in England. I wouldn't recommend ordering one of these for yourself if you have already eaten a main course, rather share with the table and get a few spoons. The plate comes laced in a chocolate sauce with a few slices of fruit and giant ball of ice cream.

The rest of the menu is a mix of western and Thai dishes, as well as a Japanese option which is prepared in a separate area by a specialist who's presentation is second to none. You can watch him at work by the Japanese lanterns.
