Fish Cakes @ Chicken Flame

I drive up and down the Yamo Road all the time and I normally do it with my eyes closed (well, I am half asleep in the morning on the way to work and by the time I head home, the rain is pelting it down so hard that I am lucky if I can see the road). I was therefore pleasantly surprised when I saw this lovely little open fronted wooden cafe with fish cakes and barbecued or breaded chicken.

I was told it doesn't have a name, so like with so many other places in Korat, it will be given the nickname it deserves, 'Chicken Flame'. It has a small sign above it that has the feel of something that was printed for an English Camp. It simply has three things printed on it: Noodles, Satay Sticks and Chicken Flame. Who needs a name when you have that kind of variety?

I ordered the dory fish cake with rice and it came with a little bit of salad and a small bag of sweet Thai mayo which was promptly ditched. For just 35 baht, and in just 2 minutes I was in and out for my lunch, heading back to school with a new treat to try. The lady was so nice and friendly, that this will certainly become a lunchtime favourite of mine and I will soon be going back to try the bbq chicken, the breaded chicken and the satay sticks.

The seating inside is perfectly fine, with small wooden chairs and tables and a fan. It is difficult to park if you are in a car, but you can always park around the corner on one of the side streets by Mae Kim Haeng Market.
