Full English Breakfast @ Staffords in Prasat

Although Staffords isn't in Korat a lot of Ex-pats from Korat drive past it on their way to Chon Chom to do border runs and Tourist Visa extensions.

It consists of a cafe/restaurant, and a shop selling a selection of imported western foodstuffs such as Bisto Gravy Granules, HP Sauce, Heinz Baked Beans, Kellog's Corn Flakes etc. It also sells a variety of homemade frozen products such as various British style Indian Curries (Korma, Madras, Vindaloo, Tikka Masala etc.), British style pies (Steak and Ale, Minced Beef and Onion, Chicken and Mushroom, etc.) as well as excellent frozen Cornish Pasties.

Since I'm a big boy (even though the wife would disagree) I decided on a Full English Breakfast which consisted of 2 Sausages, Bacon, 2 Eggs, Baked Beans, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Fried Slice (Fried Bread), 2 slices of Toast and Tea or Coffee.

The sausages were delicious, meaty and very similar to the quality sausages you get in the UK. They were nothing like the fatty, tasteless sausages found in a lot of Thai Restaurants. The Bacon was also excellent with very little fat which is the way I personally prefer it. The eggs, beans and fried tomato were as you'd expect. But the mushrooms were a little disappointing being tinned button mushrooms which are never anywhere near as good as when fresh mushrooms are used for a fry-up. Unfortunately, the fried bread was also not great, it was a little hard, I hate to say it but it needed more fat while being fried, so maybe that's why I'm a big boy? The toast was good and served with butter. The tea was excellent and definitely made with a British brand of tea bag.

So overall an excellent Breakfast and very filling.

Staffords is a very convenient rest stop on a one day trip to the Cambodian border, which is about 45 kilometres from the Restaurant, so you can stop on your way there or do what I do, get the boring paperwork done first at the border then stop for a good meal on your return journey. And if you’re a fan of quality English breakfasts I’m sure you'll enjoy the one at Staffords.

Price: 160 Baht

For those with smaller appetites a Medium Breakfast consisting of a sausage, bacon, an egg, baked beans, toast and tea or coffee is also available for 125 baht.
