Squash @ Suranaree University of Technology

Suranaree University of Technology has a state of the art sports hall which is modern, clean and open to the public. It's only open during the week from 3:00pm until 7:45pm, and it gets pretty full, but you can almost always get a game on arrival. They don't let you book in advance, so you have to turn up and hope there's a court. If not, you may be waiting for up to half an hour as all games are in half hour blocks. You can book the court for as long as you like, and it will still only cost the same fee of 100 Baht per player.

The person behind the counter may ask for your ID card when you are booking and will then proceed to fill out a frankly unnecessary receipt for you before you can play. This takes a few minutes.

Overall there are 5 squash courts, all well lit with air con and a seating area outside for spectators (or the next person waiting to come on if you play with more than 2 people).

If you are still looking for exercise after your game of squash, or the courts are full when you arrive, you can use the gym upstairs (included in the 100 Baht fee you pay for the squash) whilst you wait. There is also a room next to Court 5 that has a few freestyle rowing machines that can be used by players who are waiting on the sides if necessary.

The changing rooms are very good, clean and have showers and lockers. There is also a sauna and steam room, though they are rarely turned on, so it may be an idea to turn them on before you start playing squash if you want to use them.

There is also a large swimming pool (covered, but with open sides) that can only be used if you pay an annual fee of 1000 Baht.

Wear non marking soles. They have been known to check shoes on arrival at the front desk.

Racquet rental is free (included in the 100 Baht court fee).

Opening times: 3:00pm - 7:45pm (Closed at the weekends)
