Cheeseburger @ 3rd World Café

Burgers are a very serious topic for me. From the big BBQ burger to the tiny frozen discs you slap in a spongy sesame seed bun, there is a huge range of quality to this classic hangover cure. Frankly, I have had more than my fair share of burgers and must say that it takes something drastic to have me disappointed with a burger, but equally, it takes something special for me to be impressed.

3rd World have the best burger in Korat. As a small café, 3rd World offers a unique minimalist atmosphere with great music and occasional art exhibitions, as well as poetry recitals and even classic cinema nights with their very own projector and old movie theatre seating. Previous themes have included Danny Boyle and Quentin Tarantino movies.

At 85 baht, and served with fries, you can’t get better value. The spicy homemade burger sauce is mind-blowing and the gherkins/pickles give it a welcome zest. Add cheese and you’re getting close to the perfect burger. What sets this burger apart from the rest is that it is home made using beef or pork – your choice.

It can get a bit messy, but the chef prepares you for that by serving it in a take-away tray and half wrapping the burger to offer a bit of protection ;) KP

Cheeseburger & Chips = 85 baht
