Workout @ Beverly Hills Fitness

As a keen gym goer and ex personal trainer, I really missed a good workout, and lost a lot of weight when I moved to Korat. I wanted to join a gym, but struggled to find one with adequate equipment for a reasonable price. I recently tried the gym at Beverly Hills Hotel, next to Bung Talua and was impressed with the modern equipment, cleanliness and layout. The gym is fairly small but has all the key requirements for most gym users. It has Technogym crosstrainers, treadmills and both upright and recumbent bikes, all of which overlook a fantastic view of the lake. There are a few resistance machines including a leg press, chest press and a very effective ab crunch machine. They also have a cable machine, a great piece of kit for working all the major muscle groups.

The free weight section is very limited but includes a dumbbell rack up to 30kg and an EZ bar. There are also swiss balls and a BOSU ball (sort of like half a weeble for building core muscles and improving leg strength), great for improving core strength and for performing stabilising exercises. Finally, they have what I believe is the most important piece of equipment; a smith machine. This allows you to do major lifts such as bench press, deadlifts or squats.

Also included in the price is a small but enticing outdoor swimming pool looking over the lake. The changing rooms are very modern with fingerprint security lockers, hot showers and a large steam room. There are a couple of different membership options, and each new member receives a Beverly Hills tee shirt, towel and rucksack. If you are looking to join a gym I recommend checking it out and seeing what you think.
