Get very wet @ Korat Zoo Lagoon

If you fancy a change from the swimming pool complex at the Mall then Korat Zoo which is a short drive outside the city is well worth a visit.

It's basically the same as the pool at the Mall but much larger with better facilities and a more picturesque natural surrounding. The only thing missing from Korat Zoo Lagoon is an Olympic sized swimming pool, but since most people are there to have fun and splash about as opposed to doing 50 lengths it isn't missed by the majority of visitors.

What it lacks in a big pool it more than makes up for in water-slides: there is one monster slide which is at least 70 meters off the ground, a row of three 30 meter slides as well as lots of smaller fun slides doted around everywhere. If sliding in water is your thing then this is the place for you.

As well as the slides there are numerous large Umbrella showers and various friendly sea creatures such as dolphins, whales, sharks, crocodiles, turtles and an octopus which ether spray water and/can be used to climb on, jump off of and slide through.

Another great thing about Korat Zoo Lagoon is that everything you need to have a good time in the water is available for hire for next to nothing. If you want some plastic rings, floats, beach balls, a swimming costume or anything else you can think of  they are all available. All you do is ask for what you want, pay a small amount 20-40 Baht and pay a refundable deposit. You'll then get given your items plus a plastic ticket. Take the items and your ticket back after your water fun for a the refund of your deposit.

It also has a lot more eating options available poolside than the Mall and you can sit right next to the pools and enjoy your meal. Foods include fried chicken, fried sausages, one plate meals such as fried pork with basil and rice, etc. Noodle soup, ice cream etc. Not the greatest variety on earth but it all tastes good.

There is no entry charge to the Lagoon but you do have to pay to get into Korat Zoo first. But if you go early you can combine your swim and water play with a trip around the zoo in the land train or a visit to any of their special attractions such as the Sea Lion Show or Feeding a Giraffe.

Entry: 150 Baht (foreigners), 50 Baht (Thai), 20 Baht (Thai children) plus 60 Baht for a car
