There are lots of movies that have been set in Thailand over the years. Here is a list of some of our favourite Thai movies, movies set in Thailand and movies that have been partially set in Thailand. The list is in no particular order, but all of them should be watched if you are living in Thailand.

The Beach (2000)
Twenty-something Richard travels to Thailand and finds himself in possession of a strange map. Rumours state that it leads to a solitary beach paradise, a tropical bliss - excited and intrigued, he sets out to find it. (119 mins.)

The Elephant King (2006)
The story of two brothers who lead totally different lives. Jake Hunt enjoys life to the fullest in Thailand, while his shy brother Oliver deals with his own depressions back home in the USA. (92 mins.)

Tom yum goong (2005)
A young fighter named Kham must go to Australia to retrieve his stolen elephant. With the help of a Thai-born Australian detective, Kham must take on all comers, including a gang led by an evil woman and her two deadly bodyguards. (108 mins.)

When the head of a statue sacred to a village is stolen, a young martial artist goes to the big city and finds himself taking on the underworld to retrieve it. (108 mins.)

Teddy Bear (2012)
The 38-year-old bodybuilder Dennis would really like to find true love. He has never had a girlfriend and lives alone with his mother in a suburb of Copenhagen. When his uncle marries a girl from Thailand, Dennis decides to try his own luck on a trip to Pattaya, as it seems that love is easier to find in Thailand. (92 mins.)

Chocolate (2008)
Zen, an autistic girl with powerful martial arts skills looks to settle her ailing mother's debts by seeking out the ruthless gangs that owe her family money. (110 mins.)

Beautiful Boxer (2004)
Bio-pic of transgender Muay Thai boxer Parinya Charoenphol who pursued the sport to pay for his sex change operation. (118 mins.)

The Hangover Part II (2011)
Two years after the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug jet to Thailand for Stu's wedding. Stu's plan for a subdued pre-wedding brunch, however, goes seriously awry. (102 mins.)

Last Stop for Paul (2006)

Tsunami: The Aftermath (2006 TV Movie)
Inspired by true accounts, this HBO miniseries focuses on a group of fictional characters caught up in the harrowing aftermath of the tsunami that devastated the coast of Thailand two years ago. (111 mins.)

Rambo (2008)
In Thailand, John Rambo joins a group of mercenaries to venture into war-torn Burma, and rescue a group of Christian aid workers who were kidnapped by the ruthless local infantry unit. (92 mins.)

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
Bond is led to believe that he is targeted by the world's most expensive assassin and must hunt him down to stop him. (125 mins.)

Pee Mak Phrakanong (2013)
Mak served in the war during the beginning of the Rattanakosin Dynasty. At war he became friends with Ter, Puak, Shin, and Aey, whose lives he saved. (115 mins.)

Shutter (2004)
