Buy a Modern Family Box Set @ Mangpong in the Mall

All of us here at What's On Korat do our best to let you know what's going on and get you to go out and enjoying yourselves. But sometimes people just don't want to go out, so how about having an enjoyable evening in with the wife or girlfriend and watching a video.

And you won't go far wrong if you pop into Mangpong which is opposite KFC in the Mall and buy any of the box sets of Modern Family. There are currently three box sets available for Season's 1, 2, and 3 respectively and range in price from 850 to 950 Baht.

Although the price seems quite expensive when you consider each box contains three DVDs with a total of eight episodes on each DVD, that's 24 episodes per box set which is around 12 hours of entertainment, great value!

Modern Family is an American television sitcom presented in mockumentary style, with the fictional characters frequently talking directly into the camera. The program is the story of Jay Pritchett, his second wife, his stepson, and their infant son; and his two adult children and their families.

The series has received positive reviews from critics and received several award nominations. It has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in each of the past four years.

The show revolves around three families living in the Los Angeles area who are interrelated through Jay Prichett and his children, Claire and Mitchell. Patriarch Jay is re-married to a much younger woman, Gloria, a passionate Colombian with whom he has a baby son, and a 14-year-old son from Gloria's previous relationship, Manny. The similarities of how this relationship is portrayed in the series and a lot of Farang-Thai relationships is staggering and always hysterical.

Jay's daughter Claire is a homemaker married to Phil Dunphy, a real-estate agent and self-professed "cool dad". They have three children: Haley, the stereotypical ditzy teenage girl; Alex, a nerdy, smart middle child; and Luke, the offbeat only son. Jay's lawyer son Mitchell and his partner Cameron have an adopted Vietnamese daughter, Lily.

Although Modern Family is sometimes shown on True Visions, you can't beat the flexibility of the DVDs, allowing you to watch it when you want, for as long as you want, great for those DVD marathons with a loved one. All the DVD's are English Soundtrack with optional Thai subtitles so your other half will enjoy them as much as you will.

Although many of the jokes are quite subtle, which is unusual for such an award winning American show, Modern Family goes down very well with most Thai's. The main reasons being a lot of physical humour and as mentioned, the similarities between the on-screen characters relationships and the relationships of the Thai's who are married to Farang.

So if you feel like a night in this evening with your wife or girlfriend, grab a bottle of wine, and a Box Set of Modern Family from Mangpong at the Mall and laugh yourselves silly.
