Swimming Pool @ The Mall

The Mall swimming pool is a great place to spend an afternoon. The Olympic size pool is 50 metres in length and is next to Fantasia Lagoon water park. It’s an open air pool with clean decent changing rooms and toilets as well as lockers and food vendors.

If you can't find what you want at the food stalls, which tend to be meats on sticks, som tam and fried food, you can always go to the Fresh Mart inside the Mall and bring out a picnic of your own.

There are deck chairs and picnic tables available on the concourse by the side of the pool. You will find that there are quite a lot of foreigners sitting on the far side soaking in the rays when the weather is nice.

The facilities were improved at the end of 2013, and it is quite impressive for a public swimming pool.

The water is kept clean and looks very clear in the afternoons. They tend to close for a short period between 4:30pm and 5:00pm to add chemicals, so be aware that they may summon you out round about then.

There are two main entrances to the swimming pool area. One from the Fantasia Arcade, and the other main entrance is from next to the Food Court at the back right of the ground floor.

Tickets are 200 Baht per person for adults and cheaper for children. If you have a Mall Card, you get a special price of 100 Baht for adults. They will give you a small ticket to enter which is taken off you within seconds of receiving it; they wouldn't want to miss out on the opportunity to use paper and have a ticket collector ;)

Swimming caps must be worn by all swimmers, and can be rented (along with towels) at the kiosk next to the changing rooms. You can also rent or buy swimming costumes, goggles and other swimming equipment such as board floats inflatable rings and arm bands. You will have to pay a deposit of about 50 Baht which is redeemed using a ticket when you leave, and normally about 20 Baht for the actual rental of most things.

The pool gets very busy during the summer holidays and at weekends, but during term time and school hours, it is a great place to relax and take advantage of how quiet this giant open air swimming pool can get.

One half is cordoned off for swimming classes in the evenings, but there is still a fast lane for those who like to do lengths, and an open swimming area for those looking to cool off and relax.

The swimming pool is open from 6:00am until 9:00pm.

Be warned: The only problem with the changing rooms is that there is no door to the men's, so you have to be careful that you haven't got any spectators when you are doing your thing (or get changed in the shower cubicles) because there can be quite a lot of traffic outside trying to catch a glimpse.

Prices are discounted with a Mall Card which can be obtained on the third floor near the TV and electrical goods section. Annual passes can also be purchased for 2000 Baht for adults. Annual passes are also available for children, please enquire at the Mall Fantasia Lagoon entrance.
