Watch a Sea Lion Show @ Korat Zoo

Korat Zoo is a great place to spend a day or even a few days and is filled with lots of fun and educational attractions.

One of these is it's Sea Lion Show which is held two times every weekday at 11:00am and 02:00pm, and three times on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays at 10:30am, 12:30pm and 3:30pm.

There is an additional charge for the show of 20 Baht per Adult and 10 Baht per Child on top of the zoo entrance charge of 150 Baht per Adult for Farang and 70 Baht for Thais.

After you arrive at the Zoo you will need to take one of the brightly coloured road trains, tickets (20 Baht for Adults, 10 Baht for Children) are available from the starting point behind the cafe and near all the shops. Once you have a ticket you can get on and off the train anywhere in the zoo you want, then get back on another train as it passes by when your ready to move on.

The Sea Lion Show is held in a large pool with seating for a few hundred people and features three Sea Lions, a large male and two much smaller females.

They do a variety of tricks such as performing actions when instructed, collecting coloured rings, collecting a ball that is thrown for them into the pool by keeping it in the air with their noses while swimming which is very impressive, jumping through hoops, and headering the ball as well as any footballer,

Their agility in the water is stunning, on land they are a little clumsy, especially the male who looks like he could loose a few pounds, but in the water they come to life and are a cross between a torpedo and the most athletic synchronised swimmer you've ever seen.

What is especially nice to see is how they are treated by their trainers, they look like they are really enjoying themselves and having as much fun as the crowd is having watching them.

The show is especially suitable for children who love watching the tricks and the incredible agility of the animals.

There is so much to do at Korat Zoo, so go along and do whatever takes your fancy. On the drive back to the city why not pop into Coffee Pitini restaurant, just off the Pak Thong Chai road (304) for a good meal.
